There are two fees to know about, and they are not paid to the same place.

How the APS Certificate Process Actually Works

• Set up your account. Register on the APS India portal at aps-india.de, this is where everything happens from here on, including tracking your status.
• Don't apply too early. This trips up more students than you'd think. APS won't keep your file open while you wait for a pending result or an upcoming semester's marksheet. Apply once you've actually completed the academic stage your pathway depends on.
• Pull together your documents. What you need depends on whether you are a Bachelor's or Master's applicant (both lists are below), and it's genuinely worth double-checking the official checklist on the APS India site before you courier anything, since these details do get revised.
• Photocopy, don't send originals. A4 colour copies only. APS does not send originals back, so don't risk them.

On June 29, 2026, APS India introduced something called the dMAT, the Digital Master Test, as an extra piece of the APS documentation puzzle for a specific group of Master's applicants. It isn't universal, and it isn't replacing anything that already existed. It's simply a new, additional requirement layered on top.

Who it actually affects: only Master's applicants whose Bachelor's degree falls into one of these fields

Who's exempt, at least for now:

●   Anyone who completed their APS online registration & had shipped their complete APS application documents before 29 June 2026.

●   Applicants outside the five fields listed above

●   Students on officially recognized exchange, double-degree, or partnership programs

Key dates for the first test cycle:

The fee is €150, roughly ₹16,200 to ₹16,300, and it's paid to g.a.s.t. (the Society for Academic Study Preparation and Test Development), not to APS India.

If You are targeting Winter Semester 2026/27 or anything earlier, none of this touches you. The first dMAT certificates won't even exist until October 2026, well after those application deadlines have already closed. This becomes a real requirement starting with Summer Semester 2027 intakes and onward.

As for how it's scored: it runs on a 0–200 scale, centered around an average of 100, with a percentile ranking alongside it. There's no official cutoff for pass or fail.
